Irlanda in Festa 2011

After the success of last year’s festival, with over 18,000 people attending, for the fifth consecutive year, IRLANDA IN FESTA, the most important festival in Italy dedicated to celebrating Irish music, dance, culture and gastronomy, returns to Bologna’s Parco Nord.

Bologna’s Parco Nord will come alive between the 16-20th of March, with the sights and sounds of Ireland. The festival kicks off on Wednesday the 16th, followed immediately by St Patrick’s day (17th of March), traditionally the centrepiece of this unique festival. This year St. Patrick’s day will take on an extra significance as it is the day when Italians will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy. It promises to be a spectacular party!!

Once again the brainchild of Estragon, Bologna’s famous rock club, the five nights of IRLANDA IN FESTA will see some of the best folk music acts from Italy, Ireland, and the rest of the world take to the stage in two adjacent venues (see program for details).

As usual, though, it’s not just Irish music and dancing – the festival also revolves around great food. There is a large restaurant bringing together Irish and Italian cooks, offering menus with the best of traditional Irish and Bolognese food.

And as if that weren’t enough, there are a whole range of events including sporting competitions, traditional Irish dancing workshops, films and much more. There’s something for everybody at this unique Italian Irish festival
